Bea Dijkman Examines the Role of Family in Treatment Decisions Made by Elderly Surgical Patients

Bea Dijkman, MSc., is a senior lecturer and doctoral student at the School of Nursing who is involved in the Research Progam Family Care & Family Nursing at Hanze University of Applied Science in Groningen, the Netherlands.

Her research focuses on elderly surgical patients with an oncological disease and the role of the family in treatment decision-making. The study aims to understand how nurses can optimally involve relatives of older surgical patients with oncological illnesses in treatment decision-making.

Bea is working with  Dr. Marie Louise Luttik in the Research Program Family Care & Family Nursing. The primary mission is to develop a more systemic approach to care in various settings and collaboration with multiple disciplines based on applied scientific research.
