Lisa Whitehead, PhD, RN, is a professor in nursing research at Edith Cowan University, Western Australia and honorary professor of nursing research at the University of Otago, New Zealand. She is involved in interprofessional research and service focused on adults with complex and chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, cancer and their families. Her work relates to how individuals, families and health care providers can work together to improve clinical outcomes and quality of life for adults and their families. Professor Whitehead has recently been chosen by the Australian College of Nursing to serve as the Chair of the Chronic Disease Policy Chapter (see insert below). In this role she will have an opportunity to influence nursing care related to chronic illness and encourage a family nursing focus.
