The IFNA Communications Committee has developed a document called, “What is a Predatory Conference?” that provides information and current references for IFNA members about the rising incidence of fraudulent family nursing conferences. Many IFNA members have been receiving unsolicited emails for “Calls for Papers” or have been surprised to see their names and photos advertised, without their permission, as keynote speakers at these counterfeit conferences. The IFNA Board of Directors requested development of this new IFNA information document for members and approved it on May 26, 2016. Please share this document about the alarming rise of predatory conferences with your colleagues and students.

Another topic of concern to family nursing and family health scholars is the issue of Predatory Publishers. Here is a useful link to a recent post by Roger Watson on this topic: https://www.reflectionsonnursingleadership.org/features/more-features/beware-the-predators#.W-2zvE-bUgU.twitter. Jeffrey Beal has developed Criteria for Determining Predatory Open-Access Publishers.
