Denmark has a new research center in family health. The Family Focused Healthcare Research Center (FaCe) is affiliated with the Department of Clinical Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark.
The overall aim of FaCe is to establish a multidisciplinary research network and program of research with a focus on the health of patients and their family members affected by acute or chronic conditions across the patient trajectory. “FaCe” supports the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, particularly goal No. 3: “Health & Well-being.”
FaCe will investigate:
- Needs of patients and families in different phases of the disease trajectory;
- Development of outcomes;
- Effective interventions;
- How to implement these goals in a clinical workflow.
People come first, and the need to establish a new framework for stronger involvement with patients and family members is clear. Our logo states that our mission is to give families a face.
Further, the FaCe aims to build fruitful collaborations and partnerships between national and international researchers, clinicians, patients, and families across healthcare sectors to increase and coordinate research and clinical practice in the field of family health and well-being, not only during hospitalization but also in everyday life–consecutively adding to more knowledge that will influence the clinical practice of various professionals who are providing first line support to patients and families.
The creation of FaCe is to encompass a bridging between various research units at the Department of Clinical Research at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Southern Denmark and various departments treating families at the hospitals and municipalities in the Region of Southern Denmark.
