Josien Woldring, MSc., is a senior lecturer and doctoral student at the School of Nursing and involved in the Research Program Family Care & Family Nursing, Hanze University of Applied Science in Groningen, the Netherlands.
Her research focuses on frail, mostly older patients admitted to the hospital. The main aim of her doctoral research is to investigate how communication and collaboration in the triangle of the patient, family, and healthcare professionals can be shaped in such a way that it results in: 1) optimal involvement of patients and families; 2) self-direction and co-reliance of patients and families; and 3) optimal preparedness for caregiving at discharge. One of the strategies to include family members in the hospital care processes is the concept of “family-centered rounds”.
Josien is working with Dr. Marie Louise Luttik in the Research Program Family Care & Family Nursing with the primary mission to contribute to the development of a more systemic approach to care in a variety of settings, and in collaboration with various disciplines based on applied scientific research.
