Jia Guo, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, is a Professor at Xiangya School of Nursing, Central South University in China and the Deputy Director of JBI Xiangya Center for Evidence-based Nursing Practice & Healthcare Innovation (China). She currently serves as the co-chair of the IFNA Membership Committee. Her research includes family-focused chronic disease prevention and management and evidence-based nursing practice. She has led over 20 domestic and international scientific grants and published 66 papers.
Dr. Guo has a keen interest in improving nursing through education. Through evaluating evidence to meet practice demands, she has educated more than 4,000 nurses. Under her leadership, nurses conduct evidence synthesis, dissemination, and implementation to integrate science into nursing practice.
She has carefully considered current systems of care to advance the role of nurses in multidisciplinary care, especially in family nursing, and developed models of care that can be replicated and sustained. In developing a multidisciplinary model of diabetes care in urban health centers that includes nurses with a well-defined role, her collaborative work aims to improve the level of nursing practice in China. In the future, she plans to conduct a pragmatic randomized control trial to evaluate the effectiveness of comprehensive technology-assisted interventions to address family-based management of chronic illness.
Dr. Guo has recently been recognized as a 2021 Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
