Simon Stones is a fourth-year postgraduate researcher undertaking his Ph.D. in Healthcare at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. He has a rich and varied background, with an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences, the experience of working in medical communications/strategic consultancy, and as a multi-award-winning health advocate for people living with chronic conditions. Inspired by his own experiences, Simon is a passionate believer in supporting children and young people to become proud and competent self-managers, with the support and encouragement of their families, which has formed the central focus of his doctoral thesis. Simon went on to start his postdoctoral career in 2021 as Medical Writer in a biopharmaceutical company. He believes that research belongs to everyone, including young people and families, who have a right to get involved in research, and access research findings in a way in which is accessible and relevant.
Simon is an active member of the IFNA UK/Ireland Chapter.
Simon is a 2021 recipient of a conference grant from the International Family Nursing Foundation to support his participation at the virtual 15th International Family Nursing Conference (IFNC15).
