IFNA Bylaws encourage the creation of IFNA Chapters.
In November 2018, the IFNA Board of Directors approved the second IFNA Chapter Charter membership of IFNA members in Australia and New Zealand. The United Kingdom/Ireland IFNA Chapter was established in 2017.
The Australia/NewZealand IFNA chapter aims to create a collaborative environment to promote family nursing in Australia and New Zealand. The chapter will recruit new IFNA members as they promote family nursing and IFNA resources.
Purpose / Terms of Reference of the Australia/New Zealand IFNA Chapter
Objectives:
- Enhance and promote family nursing in Australia and New Zealand.
- Facilitate and promote family research in Australia and New Zealand.
- Develop a strong connection with IFNA for the promotion of family nursing activities internationally.
- Demonstrate leadership in addressing the educational needs of nurses in relation to the provision of family-centred care to meet the National Health and Safety priorities.
- Provide opportunities for professional networking among family focused nurses.
Terms of Reference
Active membership within the Australia/New Zealand IFNA chapter through current membership in IFNA. Current IFNA members can nominate for roles with the Australia/New Zealand Chapter with a two year term for chair and secretary.
Strategic Plan
- Increase membership of IFNA within Australia and New Zealand and increase attendance at conference.
- Promote family nursing research across the clinical areas with publications and teaching within the undergraduate and post graduate areas.
- Long term plan to host an IFNA conference in Australia or New Zealand within 5 years.
Activities to Foster Interest in Family Nursing
- Email recruitment within members’ universities.
- Social media recruitment via Facebook and Twitter to encourage scholars and clinicians to become IFNA members.
