(Francophone version of the IFNA Position Statement on Generalist Competencies for Family Nursing Practice was presented in a poster at the SIDIIEF conference. The SIDIIEF is an international francophone organization, with 2000 members. 1700 nurses from 28 countries attended the Bordeaux conference. The timing for this presentation was excellent, since several francophone countries, in Europe and Africa, are revising or enhancing their undergraduate program.)
IFNA member and member of the IFNA Practice Committee, Dr. Junko Honda (September 2018), distributed copies of the IFNA Position Statements at the 25th Annual Conference of Japanese Association for Research in Family Nursing which was held September 1-2, 2018 in Kochi prefecture, Japan (700 registrants). An IFNA booth, developed in cooperation with the IFNA Resource Advancement Committee, featured Japanese language translations of the IFNA Position Statements on Generalist and Advanced Practice Competencies and provided information about IFNA membership and IFNC14.
Dr. Mari Ikeda provided a Japanese language of the IFNA Position Statement on Pre-Licensure Education; Ms. Noriko Kawahara, Dr. Junko Honda, Dr. Kyoko Kobayashi and Dr. Kenya Matsumoto are currently members of the IFNA Resource Advancement Committee.
IFNA member, Dr. Cristina Garcia-Vivar (Spain) offered an inaugural keynote “Research to Promote Family System Care for Families Living with Chronic Illness” at the 7th Conference on Nursing Research at the Puerta de Hierro University Hospital in Madrid, on November 29th.

NEW March 2021: The Tasmania State Government (Australia) recently called for responses to a discussion paper on the implementation of the Child & Youth Wellbeing Framework. IFNA member, Dr. Lindsay Smith submitted a response to the Discussion Paper – Tasmania’s Child and Youth Wellbeing Strategy that referenced the International Family Nursing Association (IFNA) Position Statement on Advanced Practice Competencies for Family Nursing (2017). E. Dissemination Efforts Added to Agenda of IFNA Standing Committees
The IFNA Practice Committee and IFNA Education Committee include a standard agenda item for each committee meeting to discuss and celebrate the IFNA Positon Statement dissemination efforts led by individual committee members. All IFNA standing committees and the IFNA Board of Directors are encouraged to begin this practice.
- In early 2017, Dr. Kathryn Anderson, Co-chair of the IFNA Practice Committee began a dialogue about dissemination of the IFNA Position Statements at several joint meetings of all of the IFNA Standing Committee co-chairs.
