Presenters in this seminar will guide participants through strategies to gain a collective family perspective. In addition, presenters will articulate how family researchers can design and implement family intervention and practice translation studies that use the collective family perspective to improve nursing practice and outcomes. Research-supported strategies that assist participants in planning quantitative and qualitative studies will be shared. Consideration will be given to strategies for ensuring alignment across study aims, conceptual underpinnings, and interview approach and questions. Unique challenges and benefits of conducting collective family research interviews for data collection and family intervention interviews will be addressed.
Educational Outcomes/Objectives:
- Discuss strategies for ensuring alignment across study aims, conceptual underpinnings, and interview approach and questions.
- Present an overview of the range of approaches for accessing the collective family perspective.
- Examine the unique challenges and benefits of conducting collective family research interviews and collective family intervention interviews.
- Review methods for ensuring rigor in collective family research interviews.
- Propose guidelines for maintaining collective family intervention fidelity.
