Naohiro Hohashi, PhD, RN, PHN, FAAN, is a Professor and Department Director, Division of Family Health Care Nursing, Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences, Graduate School of Health Sciences, Kobe University, Japan. His work as a family nursing scholar and leader in Japan has been recognized with numerous international awards, including the 2015 Innovative Contribution to Family Nursing Award from the International Family Nursing Association. In the fall of 2016, he was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. He has contributed to family nursing research, practice, and policy through his work in developing the Concentric Sphere Family Environment Theory (CSFET) and Family Care/Caring Theory (FCCT). CSFET focuses on the family environment with the aim of realizing the well-being of the family unit. Among his most recent publications is “An Introduction to the Concentric Sphere Family Environment Theory: Theory and Intervention.” (Tokyo: Editex, 2016).
