2017 IFNA Awards: Call for Nominations

UPDATE: The 2017 IFNA Awards Call for Nominations resulted in 15 nominations from 6 countries.  A special thank you to all IFNA members who took the time to nominate IFNA colleagues or individuals/organizations external to IFNA who are providing outstanding contributions to transform health for families worldwide and advance the nursing of families. The IFNA Awards Committee is pleased to share the names of those who were nominated: 2017 IFNA Awards.Nominations.

Eight awards in 4 categories will be presented to chosen recipients at the 13th International Family Nursing Conference in Pamplona, Spain in 2017. The IFNA Awards Committee, chaired by Dr. Norma Krumwiede, with members from 5 countries, is overseeing the development and selection process of these awards.

IFNA Award Categories:

  • Excellence in Family Nursing Award

  • Innovative Contribution to Family Nursing Award 

  • Distinguished Partner in Family Health Care Award

  • Rising Star in Family Nursing Award 

Description and Criteria of the IFNA Awards:

Excellence in Family Nursing Award – this award recognizes IFNA members for outstanding contribution to the development of family nursing practice, research, and/or education through either cumulative career achievement and/or a single contribution that has played a seminal role in the field.  Three awards will be offered in this category.

Innovative Contribution to Family Nursing Award – this award recognizes IFNA members who have provided sustained leadership in innovatively disseminating and implementing family nursing theory, research, and/or practice in their countries and languages. Two awards will be offered in this category.

Distinguished Partner in Family Health Care Award – this award recognizes non-IFNA members and individuals outside of the discipline of Nursing, including associations, corporations, or non-profit organizations who demonstrate sustained investment and excellence in advancing family focused health care. One award will be offered in this category.

Rising Star in Family Nursing Award – this award recognizes an IFNA member who has shown exceptional early career efforts to advance family nursing by contributing to the dissemination and implementation of family nursing as a new scholar. One award will be offered in this category.

Call for Nominations: Deadline January 30, 2017

The Call for Nominations for 2017 IFNA Awards opens October 2016 and will close on January 30, 2017. All nominators must be IFNA members in good standing. All awardees (except for the Distinguished Partner in Family Health Care Award) must be IFNA members in good standing. Please nominate an outstanding family nursing colleague for 2017 IFNA Award.  You’ll need to fill out the nomination form and prepare examples of the criteria, submit the nominee’s brief CV, and gather three supporters [Learn more]. Nominations are also being accepted for the Distinguished Partner in Family Health Care Award. The IFNA Awards Committee is responsible for coordinating the nomination and selection process and will present a slate of recommended award recipients to the IFNA Board of Directors for their approval.  Each recipient of 2017 IFNA award will be recognized at the IFNA Business Meeting held during the 13th International Family Nursing Conference and will be presented with an award recognition. Each nominator and each IFNA Award recipient will be informed of the IFNA Award Committee’s decision by April 15, 2017.
