In addition to the phases of the life course of families, the second round of funding takes into account critical life events, social determinants of health, the meaning and significance of new family forms, and patterns and the role of the family in service utilization. In addition to the individual research projects, the program serves as a milestone in establishing family oriented research and practice in nursing and midwifery in Germany.
