The Honor a Family Nurse Program is an initiative of IFNA’s Resource Advancement Committee. Through the Honor a Family Nurse program, IFNA members, schools of nursing, the general public, and health-related organizations have an opportunity to support IFNA through recognizing the accomplishments of others – both IFNA members and non-members. For schools of nursing and organizations, the program also is a way to showcase international support of family nursing and highlight the accomplishments of those in your region. This program provides a means of honoring and praising those among us who deserve to be recognized. Think of nurses and others (colleagues, mentors, practitioners, students, community leaders) who have inspired you through their achievements or support and whose efforts deserve to be acknowledged.

Accomplishments to be honored include but are not limited to:

  • Funding for a new program or research project
  • Completion of a major project or study
  • Excellence in practice
  • Community leadership
  • Publication of an outstanding manuscript
  • Mentorship of students and/or junior colleagues
  • Completion of a degree
  • Leadership in family nursing, including colleagues who have retired or passed away

This program acknowledges that there are many contributions to family nursing that merit recognition that never receive major awards, yet are vital to the field.

Each submission must be accompanied by a $100 donation to IFNA. All those honored and their affiliated organization will be recognized at the 13th International Family Nursing Conference (June 14-17 in Pamplona, Spain) and on IFNA’s website. Funds raised from this program will be used in the future to support student participation in IFNA.

The submission process is online and simple. Click here to recognize someone.  When you connect to the site, you will be asked to provide the following information about the individual you are honoring.

  • Name, title, affiliation, and email address of individual to be honored
  • 25 word description of why person is being honored
  • Shortened description of reason for honoring (8 words or less – to appear on award certificate)

You will have the option of paying by credit card or printing an invoice and making payment by check.

To be listed in the final IFNC13 program in Spain, June 14-17, 2017 as well as on the IFNA website, submissions must be received by May 1, 2017. After May 1, all honoree submissions received through the final day of IFNC13 will be recognized on the IFNA website only.
